Formed in 2016, Southern California alt-rock outfit Mëttle’s initially emerged as an 80’S and 90’s cover band. Soon, however, the quartet found they had more to say and transitioned into making their own original music. Started when guitar player Scott Gossett noticed wife Megan Rice’s natural vocal abilities, they recruited Scott’s cousin Anthony Gossett on bass (forming their own “Van Gossett” – a mini Van Halen inside the band) and Raul Ochoa on drums.
As a cover band, Mëttle quickly won a local rising star competition to play at the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival. Shortly after, the band – who all share a passion for existential philosophy – found that forming their own sound and writing original lyrics was much more interesting. Their style reflects their belief that it’s unrealistic to be expected to fit into the same category or be in the same mood all the time. Never content with playing just one type of music or being boxed into a single genre, the band’s ever-evolving sound is as varied and complex as their emotions. Having recently teamed up with Grammy Award-Winning Engineer and Producer, Erich Talaba, Mëttle’s debut EP 27 Ghosts, with their single Red and Blue will be released in March 2018.
Mëttle will be performing at the Digifest After-Party, Sunday, April 15th, 8:00 pm on the City Hall Steps
